DELAYS IN SHIPMENT TO EGYPT DESTINATIONS

Dear Valued Customers,

With regards to shipments for Egypt destination which are discharged at Sokhna port, given to understand from our Egypt office that there has been delayed movement of containers to inland destinations (Alexandria, Damietta, Dekhila, Port Said etc.) due to the following reasons:

          * 100% scanning of containers leading to high congestion at Sokhna.

          * Frequent breakdown of X-ray machine (currently they are operating with single machine as the other machine is completely down.).

          * Shortage of Equipment for movement of containers with the high demand of trucking.

          * New customs regulation application.

Our transit time from Sokhna to inland destinations is badly impacted because of the above reasons. Our normal transit time towards movement is within 7 days after vessel sailing from Sokhna port but the same is not manageable due to the actual situation, which is beyond APL’s control. The transit time shall now be more by 8 to 10 days, over and above the normal transit period from Sokhna.

We regret towards the inconvenience caused to our customers at origin as well as destination (Consignee) and would like to assure that necessary efforts are being taken by our Egypt offices to priorities the container movements.
